Working from | Having a job that requires you to work at a desk or using a computer all day can be very hard | taxing on your body, even though you are sitting | basically sitting down all day | most of the time. Why? Because when you sit down all day | for long periods your body can pickup | naturally pickup bad habits that it finds comfortable.
When you sit down your body can sometimes go into relax mode and your posture can become very bad | poor. Generally you will sit with your legs crossed either at the knees or sometimes at your feet. You should try the following | following tips and you will be amazed | surprised at how exhilarating | re-energised it can make you feel.
Never slouch | hunch and always sit tall | nice and tall and press | move your bottom to the back of your chair | seat.
Make sure your feet are always flat on the floor, directly | straight in front of you.
Adjust your office equipment to the level | position that allows you to sit straight | up so you have to physically sit like this to be comfortable.
And then there is the stomach | abdominal area. As the stomach muscles contribute to your core strength, squeeze | tense the muscles as tight as you can and hold. Now release slightly. And again, release the muscles a little more. Now you should be at a point | in a position that is mildly tightened but you can hold for most of the day. If you try and do this throughout the day | your working hours, you will discover that it will become the natural way you would prefer to sit.
Walking throughout the day is essential | important. Although a good walk during lunch would not go astray, if you are strapped for time, walk throughout the office during your tea breaks. It is best to ensure you do not eat at your desk either, and this will make you physically get up from your seat and walk around. You can also try tricking yourself, by manoeuvring things out of your reach | arms reach. So once again you will have to actually get up from you seat | desk to reach things. When you are walking around do some stretches so the muscles that are not always used when sitting get a bit of use. Try and stretch your back by standing tall and moving your upper body side to side. Then you can also stand tall with your arms held straight out in front of you and then moving them as far behind you as possible.
This can make you look a little bit silly | funny, but you will feel so much better | it will make you feel so much better. You can also do extra rewarding stretches whilst you are sitting. With your back straight and your feet flat on the ground, raise your heels and hold for 5 seconds | the count of 5. Repeat this 6 times and then add a variant to the exercise by raising your toes instead and holding for 5 | 5 seconds.
Neck stretches are important as well | just as important. You can stretch the neck by sitting up straight and pushing your shoulders down. Now gently move your head from side to side. If you are using a keyboard all day, stop now and then and roll your wrists around in both directions. Also tense your fingers into a fist and release a few times to stretch your hands out.
Take any opportunity you may have to get up from your desk and walk around. With most business owners now realising the importance of healthy workplaces, you will find that your boss may appreciate the initiative that you may show when it comes to exercising while you work. You will find that you feel better about not only your working ability but life in general
