The Manchurian Candidate

It appears that Washington no longer cares to act in a responsible manner and perform their
duty in a manner consistent with our constitution. It is clear therefore that our only resource
is the state legislators and the strict adherence to states rights and state sovereignty.
The Health Care Bill passed by congress is an egregious act of defiance against the will of the
majority of Americans and unconstitutional under various acts of our constitution.
A number of states are launching court cases to challenge the constitutionality of the congress
and the health care bill. I urge you and other responsible members of your state house’s to join
forces with these other states in our right as a sovereign state to force congress to act within the
boundaries set down by the constitution, repeal the Health Care Reform Bill and cease from
taking it upon themselves to decided what is best for America and allow our states to conduct
affairs as we see fit. Unfunded programs that require states to bare the burden of financial and
social weight without the consent of the states is blatantly tyrannical in its very nature.
We can no longer allow Washington to operate as a government unto themselves. I have read
the constitution, the debates leading up to the vote on the document, the Federalist papers and
numerous biographies and personal papers of the men that founded our nation. Not in the letter
nor the spirit of the law does this congress participate. They have become an aristocracy of
effete snobs and socialists that requires you and the state legislators to stop. This is your
duty especially in the face of President Obama’s actions of demonizing our country and our
institutions. He is certainly not upholding his pledge at confirmation to “protect and defend
the constitution of America so help you God.” He is more like the “Manchurian Canidate” and
I fear for our country’s survival under his leadership.

And the meows have it

Having a pet could surely help you live a better life. In even the
simplest effect, it could not be denied that pets bring this
different aura to lives of people and it brightens a home. Any pet
may be that secret stepping stone in achieving a certain amusement
or comforter but there is something that sets up all these benefits
higher, and that is if you choose cats as pets.

What is with cats? What makes them so special? Cats would really be
great companions and friends. Research shows that having cats as pets
could really lighten up a person’s physiological, emotional and
psychological side. This is very true. These benefits would really heal
the wounds of solitude, age, stress and depression. In addition, cats
are affectionate but less demanding, low maintenance and it would
surely be very suitable for those who have a modern lifestyle.

Cats are confidence boosters.

It is believed that people who take care of pets are more likely to be
caring than those who are not. When old or sick people have pet cats,
it would surely give rise to their esteem they will not feel useless or
unworthy. When a person feels being needed, it radiates a very
optimistic mind. Kids or young people, when being entrusted to do the
care for pets, they would feel confident and responsible as well.
Another thing is that by taking care of cats and other animals, people
learn how to take care of others too.

Cats as pets do also relieve you from stress.

According to Medical studies, sitting on a chair, placing a cat on your
lap and stroking its hair would let you feel comfortable and at peace.
This would make you feel relaxed and would make you feel relieved from
stress caused by whatever endeavor.

Cats as health angels

According to the Society for Companion Animal Studies, patients recover or
live longer through animals. It has been discovered that having pets would
definitely ease the cases of physiological or psychological impairment in people.

Cats as social catalysts

Cats as pets could let you drop your hesitations and shyness. It would tech
you what the essence of being with others and exploring the world is. When you
go with you cat, people would be interested and as a cat-lover, you would not
hesitate to show your pet off.

A Tale of two Chews

Chewing seems to be a matter of individual preference among dogs: some have an innate

An Abstract Thought?

The Squid’s Beak – WAS IT DESIGNED?

The beak of the squid baffles scientists. They wonder: ‘How can
something that is so hard be attached to a body that has no bones?
Should not the combination of materials cause abrasion and hurt the
squid?’

Consider: The tip of the squid’s beak is hard, whereas the base of
the beak is soft. The composition of the beak—which is made up of
chitin, water, and protein—changes in density so gradually from soft
to hard that the squid can use its beak without causing any
harmful abrasion.

Professor Frank Zok, at the University of California, says that
studying the squid’s beak could “revolutionize the way engineers
think about attaching materials together in all sorts of applications.

” One potential application is in the making of prosthetic limbs.
Ali Miserez, a researcher at the same university, imagines
“creating a full prosthesis that mimics the chemistry of the beak,
so that it matches the elasticity of cartilage on one side and,
on the other side,” is made of “a material which is very stiff and
abrasion resistant.”

What do you think? Did the squid’s beak with its changing density
from tip to base come about by chance? Or was it designed?

Why Evil?

In the wake on the assault on followers of the Way (Christians) not only world wide but
especially here in America I believe this to be a most timely piece. Allan

The following is excerpted from an article by Hugh Ross editor of
Reasons to Believe
I’ve discovered a great irony in recent days. An unexpected and deeply painful personal experience brought it sharply into focus, and it’s this: “The problem of evil” is far more difficult to explain from an evolutionary perspective than from a biblically based creation perspective.
More than once I’ve heard evolutionists argue that the natural processes by which simple life supposedly emerged and “progressed” toward advanced, sophisticated, civilized human life somehow account for all human behavior. But what about senseless acts of violence—acts that have nothing to do, even remotely, with survival of the fittest?
That’s a question that finally stumped a non-theist who’s been attending my Sunday class for several months out of “curiosity.” While other skeptics in the group have moved significantly closer to faith, he has remained stuck—until a few weeks ago when I came to class in deep anguish.
You may have heard or read in the news about the stabbing of two pastors’ sons here in Southern California right after Christmas. It grieves me to say that one of these young men did not survive, and my heart goes out to his grieving family; the other, who happens to be my son, did pull through. The surgeon told Kathy and me the attacker’s knife missed our son’s heart by a mere fraction of an-indch
Those who know my son, a quiet, gentle artist-in-training, share our disbelief that any such thing could happen to him—especially at a low-key suburban birthday celebration. Those who knew his effervescent friend Ryan are equally stunned and horrified. But evil rose up and lashed out, unprovoked and gratuitous, and two young men and their families were abruptly, severely impacted.
Neither Joel nor his friend posed any danger or threat to the men who jumped them, nor was theft a motive. The assailants were older, stronger, well-fed individuals. So what “survival” instinct were they acting upon? What precedent for their behavior can be found in the evolutionary tree? And why do people react differently—with moral outrage, for example—to human violence than to any other creature’s violence?
The next time you hear someone question God’s existence because of the reality of evil in the world, I recommend you respond by pointing out the obvious. First, it’s only because of God’s goodness we can recognize evil at all. What’s more, there’s far too much evil in the world to be accounted for by nature alone. Only the existence of a supernatural realm and of powerful opposition to God, as described in the pages of the Bible, can explain it.
This point can lead to a spiritually productive conversation about God’s design of the universe as the perfect place to enact His plan for our eternal redemption. It’s also the perfect place to equip us for the adventures of the world to come, our life in His tangible and glorious presence—with free will fully intact and yet without the risk of rebellion because of our brief exposure to evil and testing here and now. No other religious or philosophical worldview offers so thorough and satisfying an explanation—or outcome—as our Christian faith.

For Friends of Our Four Legged Friends

Wouldn’t be great to be able to identify serious veterinary pet problems from minor hiccups?  Have you been to the Vet. recently? I thought my primary care doctor was expensive, hes got nothing on the Vet. Moses, our toy Pomeranian, has some unique issues due to his size so I’m real familiar with the cost of pet care. If you want to take control of your pets health I urge you to pick up a copy of “The Ultimate Guide to Dog Health.” Just click here to get your copy now and start saving your money instead of funding your Vets kids college tuition.

Fur Ball Express

Moses here, how ya doin’. I always wanted to say that, do I sound like Rocky Balboa? When your as little as me you can’t be to careful. After a rather unsettling incident last week I’ve been taking self defense classes from a pit bull. Those guys are nasty, he says because of my size I should bite my attacker in the gonads because that’s as high as I can reach. I told him that I’ve run into dog dudes whose gonads are bigger then I am so I think I’ll stick to hiding behind my master.

There’s a lot of talk about what kind of pet the new president-elect should have in the White House. I think one of those firehouse dogs would be appropriate. They look real good, you know the spots and all, however my discussions with some well placed friends indicate they don’t do much but lie around.

Well I’ll cut it short for now ’cause I need to rip open my Christmas gifts. My master really buys me some neat stuff, except for some funky clothes thay expect me to wear in public. Gee, humans sometimes have no taste when it comes to hot dog duds!

Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year. Please, if your going to drink, walk or maybe crawl home. But please don’t drive. Some of my best friends have been run over by drunk drivers. Plus it’s not real good for humans either.

May the Fur be with you:

An Age of Mircles

An age of Marvel.

This true story of my battle with hepatitis C and my subsequent liver transplant is documented here not for sympathy but as a siren call to my fellow space travelers and especially their children to be on the lookout for what I am about to share with you.
In 2001 I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. The disease was caused by Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is a virulent aggressive virus that if left undetected slowly eats away at your liver producing the condition cirrhosis.

We know that the virus infects the host by means of blood products such as transfusions, intravenous drug use, tattoos introduced of dubious hygienic quality, unprotected anal sex and other blood induced scenarios. Mine was because a jerk, me, coming of age in the drug ravished ‘60’s. thought doing drugs was cool. Well some of my friends have died from drug abuse others have disappeared from view and my punishment was a destroyed liver. Ahh, if I knew then what I know now!

Most people with both acute and chronic hepatitis C have no symptoms from the disease. This is why hepatitis C may persist for years or even decades before it is discovered. When symptoms do occur, they may include fatigue, joint pain, itchy skin, muscle soreness, stomach pain and jaundice. In my case it was chronic fatigue.

More than four million Americans have been infected with hepatitis C; it is responsible for 8,000-10,000 deaths annually.

These statistics are contributed by The American Liver Foundation:http://www.http://www.liverfoundation
.org/education/info/hepatitisc/
The insidious nature of this virus is you may have it and not even know it. There are no detectable symptoms. Unfortunately by the time it manifests itself your liver may be in the later stages of cirrhosis. Usually at that time it is past the salvation stage and surgery is the only option.
There are treatments for hepatitis C that have proven successful on many patients, unfortunately I’m not one of them. While on intravenous treatment of my hepatitis C the drug showed the disease in remission however as soon as I stopped the treatment the virus flared up with a vengeance.

If you or someone you know has any of the symptoms mentioned I urge you to seek medical attention as soon as you can. Hepatitis C in some circumstances is treatable with success. Don’t be a statistic, don’t put it off, get tested today, the life you save may be your own.
